The following comment was attached: Just the law of averages...there were many Merill in Yukon at this time, a few Merell, no Merall...

I have checked the image of the original form and the correct value is debatable but I think the transcribed value is more likely to be correct.

Nevertheless the enumerator appears to have written it with an 'a'.
